Dear Families,
As we wrapped up our first full week of school, it was wonderful to see our students return ready to practice classroom routines, meet expectations, and dive into their academic work. Today, we conducted our first fire drill, and the students did an amazing job as they remained quiet, waited patiently to return to the building, and demonstrated our school-wide commitment to safety. Throughout the week, teachers at Paterson focused on building meaningful connections with students to ensure they feel safe, welcomed, and supported. Our staff strongly believes that fostering a deep sense of belonging is essential for every student to thrive in their learning environment. We also had a wonderful PTO meeting this week, bringing families together to preview our exciting outline of events for the school year. During the meeting, we gathered valuable family feedback on school events, discussed various volunteer opportunities, and emphasized how much every family's voice matters in shaping our school community. If you were unable to join us for our first meeting, we strongly encourage you to attend our next one on October 6th!
Proud Moments:
-
Little Learners: Our preschool and kindergarten students brought so much vibrant energy to their very first full week of school! They are already off to a fantastic start, showing impressive focus as they learn new daily routines and complete their classroom tasks. They have also been doing a wonderful job with active listening, following directions eagerly, and building a strong foundation for a fun and successful school year ahead.
-
New Grade Level, Same Paterson: Our 1st through 4th-grade students have done a wonderful job demonstrating respect and responsibility throughout the school week. In their daily conversations, students are showing great respect toward both their peers and teachers by listening attentively and speaking thoughtfully. They have also shown remarkable responsibility by coming to school fully prepared. This includes remembering to bring and return their Chromebooks, classroom materials, and items from home each day!
Important Reminders:
-
Afternoon Dismissal: As a reminder for afternoon dismissal, our sidewalks are very busy as teachers walk students safely to their buses. To help our students stay focused, remain in safe lines, and ensure a smooth dismissal, we kindly ask that parents and guardians refrain from walking along the bus sidewalk.
-
Morning Preschool Families: As a reminder for our morning preschool families, when leaving Paterson, please do not use the blacktop to exit school grounds during recess times. Our staff is vigilant in ensuring that the blacktop remains a safe space and that our school grounds remain secure while students are playing. We truly appreciate your cooperation in keeping our students safe!
Have a restful and safe Labor Day weekend!
