Dear Paterson Families,
We had another wonderful week here at Paterson! Our school-wide focus this week was on safety, with students discussing how a Paterson Panther stays safe throughout the entire school day across all locations. Over the past two days, we placed a special emphasis on dismissal to ensure every student walked quietly and safely to their assigned buses. Students put this into practice outside by staying in line and boarding their buses calmly and quietly. We will continue reinforcing these safety habits next week while introducing our next focus area: responsibility. When your child comes home today, ask them about our safety morning announcements and how they demonstrated safety this week! Also, be sure to check out the "Be Safe" video created by Mrs. Dalton (link below), which showcases our students' ideas and real examples of safety in action.
We can't wait to welcome our families to Paterson's Open House on Tuesday, September 22! Come tour our school, connect with our wonderful staff, and celebrate all the incredible work your students have accomplished so far.
As a reminder, our Open House Schedule is as follows:
- 6:00pm - Welcome Presentation by Dr. Correia in the gymnasium (all parents are invited to attend).
- 6:15pm - 7:15pm - Classroom and special area visits for parents, guardians, and students.
Lastly, Paterson’s Picture Day is Wednesday, September 23. Members of our PTA will be here to support this event and ensure our children are looking great for their class and individual photos!
Proud Moments:
- Paterson is full of mathematicians! This week, I had the pleasure of visiting classrooms to watch our students engage in rich math instruction that encouraged peer discourse and idea-sharing. Students are expanding their mathematical vocabulary as they learn how to articulate their thoughts, share reasoning, and build upon one another’s ideas. We are excited to see their mathematical thinking flourish this year and to watch them grow into confident, passionate lovers of math!
- Students have been deeply engaged in listening to and responding to fantastic books in class this week. Since listening to stories is such a favorite activity for our students, we encourage families to continue this practice at home. Take time this weekend to read with your child, whether they are reading aloud to you or you are sharing a story together!
As we conclude our first few weeks together, I am thrilled by how smoothly our school year has begun at Paterson. Thank you for your consistent support and collaboration as it truly makes a difference. As shared on our district’s calendar, there is no school for students Monday, September 21. I look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday and wish you all a safe and restful weekend.
