News From Dr. Correia

Dear Paterson Families,

We have officially wrapped up our first two months of the school year. Time is flying and our students have done a wonderful job building strong work habits, meeting learning expectations, and embracing new academic challenges with enthusiasm. This week, we focused on the word expectations and discussed the importance of meeting the expectations of our building and the many settings within it, what that looks like, and how it contributes to a safe and productive learning environment for all.

I also want to express how proud I am of all the students who participated in our Student Council Elections. On Monday, our student community came together to listen to speeches from candidates who wished to serve in a leadership role this year. Elections occurred later that day and four officers were officially announced. I want to thank all students who put themselves out there, wrote compelling speeches, and took a chance. Congratulations to our winners, as well as all students who participated. I am a very PROUD PRINCIPAL!

Next Wednesday, November 11, we will host our Veterans Day Appreciation Breakfast and Car Parade! This will be a special opportunity for students to invite their honored Veterans to Paterson for breakfast. Immediately following at 9:00am, we will hold our first annual Car Parade. Participants should enter via the main parking lot, drive past the front drop-off area, and enter the bus loop. From there, cars will proceed down Halleran Drive, take a left onto Church Street and complete the route twice more. This parade will allow our entire Paterson community of students and staff to show our deepest gratitude to all who have served our country. A reminder flyer was sent home today and Mrs. Delaney shared a sign-up form for both the breakfast and parade last week. If you plan to attend, please complete Mrs. Delaney’s Google Form as soon as possible.

Proud Moments:
  • It was wonderful welcoming families into our school for parent-teacher conferences this week! We loved having the opportunity to connect with you, share your child’s smooth transition into the new school year, and celebrate their hard work. Thank you for taking the time to look through their work samples and discuss their growing work habits and positive peer interactions. As always, if you have any follow-up questions after your conference, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's classroom teacher.
  • We recently received a wonderful thank-you letter from the Newington Department of Human Services expressing their gratitude to the John Paterson PTO for our generous donations. Collected during our PTO Fall Fest, these contributions demonstrate the remarkable kindness and generosity of our school community. We are so grateful to have families who continuously come together to support others. This is Paterson Pride in action!
I hope you all have a safe and restful weekend with family and friends.

Warmly,
Dr. Correia
Principal
